College Life

This may not be my best of works, but remains close to me, by the virtue of being my first poem. Today when I read it, it may seem childish at points, but still it makes me nostalgic about my college days. I believe many of us would have felt some of these feelings at one point or another during our student life.

College Life

Three years ago, When we left the school,

We were feeling like Dudes cool

But we didn’t know,

We had ahead a long strife, &

That was what, College Life…

On the very first day, In some unusual way,

We entered the college gate, But usual we were late.

Without much debate,

We were relying on our fate,

&, in the whole New World,

Each looking for a New Mate.

Just wishing to get the Tag,

that, “This is HINDU, We do not RAG”.

The course was vast,

the days got passed,

and we tried hard to last.

But then we realized,

that we need to study hard to materialize.

Finally we got passed,

Don’t ask how much we managed to grasp,

and then we partied hard,

as we succeeded to survive,

That was what, College Life…

Then came the second year,

Which brought with it a lot more to bear.

We tried to learn the ‘Laws of Attraction’,

As there was a deliberate detraction.

Some offers were taken,

while lot Hearts were broken,

But the journey carried on,

without waiting to mourn.

Some became friends, Some became foe,

the year was full of fun and joy.

Hence it shaped one more curve, Under God’s majestic knife,

that was what, College Life..

Then the new beginning, which caused the body shivering,

We were about to feel a shock,

which came without a knock.

The college gonna end, A thought which left everybody frightened.

But the life cannot halt,

It needs to proceed amid various assault.

In this war, Don’t just be a Martyr,

But try to be Alexander.

Finally with eyes full of tears,

I wish everybody hears,

That even after some years,

When, some of us will have husbands,

&, some of us will have wives,

No one will ever forgot,

What was our, College Life…..

FRIENDS

I asked Myself, ‘what is a FRIEND’?

The sound came back, a man like sand;

mould himself in your glee and grief,

never let you feel that the life is brief.

Others would leave during start & end;

You would find his signs, walking on strand..

I asked My Dad, ‘what is a FRIEND’?

Reply was terse,” the person who helps you stand”.

Pulls you from the deep pit falls,

& puts you back on the well lit strolls.

Some may deliver, some may deceive;

But you stay focused on your journey to succeed.

I asked My Teacher, ‘what is a FRIEND’?

Answer was straight,” who lay his helping hand”.

Accompanies you in the learning phase;

select only those with rightful ways.

His verbose speech had an end with usual deed,

That “ a friend in need is friend indeed”

I asked the God, ‘what is a FRIEND’?

A loud voice said,” one completes your clan”.

You dig up pearls from deep sea blues;

friend is a thread which doesn’t let them loose.

When you face dead end, or the road gets coarse;

I show new path, through that source.

I asked My Friend, ‘what is a FRIEND’?

He smiled & said,” your ardent fan”.

Friend supports you in thick and thin;

tries hard to see that grin.

Never let you live in a dreamy world;

makes you aware, when at fault.

Each is right, no one is wrong;

made me understand, what was unknown.

If I am asked & questions peep;

Rather giving answers, I would preferably skip.

HOPE: Revisited

Dear Ankur Ashish n others,

i really appreciate that u ppl took time to read my work and give ur valuable suggestions. at first the poem may look feelings of another lost person jus venting out his/her pain. but neither the poem is pessimistic nor am I, thats why the name HOPE.

the poem is a critic on never ending quest to succeed in today's world through any means. parents want their child to have more marks than colleagues child or the expectation to have a bigger car than the neighbour's. during all these, sometimes a feeling of being a looser set in, which is generally not the truth.
at these times wht one needs is support, words of encouragement. but society leer at them as if they are somehw inferior to others.

wht i meant by last two paras is that, when one is feeling low, look at those who are below to you in social hierarchy. they may nt have so much resources bt they remain happy. this doesnt mean to stop looking for success but jus chnge ur attitude towards life.

HOPE

There are times when you are Sad,

There are times when you feel Bad.

When you don’t know what to do,

Situations you are not used to..

Instead of sit down and relax,

You just get perplex…

There are times when you are Sad,

There are times when you feel Bad.

When your dreams are shattered,

Nothing else then matter.

The Head gets down & the Heart seems to drown..

Then pervades the Lull,

& the life gets Dull…

On couch full of pangs, you lay down in Fag….

There are times when you are Sad,

There are times when you feel Bad.

Dark starts to Reinforce,

As the life takes its course.

Whispers float in air,

& you become attention of Stare..

You grope for helping hand,

But there is no one to Care…

You see hordes moving up stepping on dead,

There are times when you are Sad,

There are times when you feel Bad.

But as you look down the Ladder,

You stop to Bother.

There are people in Need,

But you don’t find any Greed..

There is no Rat Race,

You don’t have to be an Ace…

The dark has gone,

As the new sun rose, &

Now you know, you will Win

Despite all odds.

There are times when you are Sad,

There are times when you feel Bad.
